BE PROUD is a retired collection of handmade merit badges inspired by idioms that honoured our everyday triumphs and missteps.
This collection begun in 2007 as a tribute to a discarded Brownie sash found at a thrift store in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The idea was to make badges that would be less disposable and more personal then those more commonly earned. Each badge was illustrated, silkscreened, hand painted, hand embroidered, and machine stitched with a pin back handsewn on.
Below is the collection in its entirety. I stopped producing Be Proud badges in 2017 and retired the whole collection. While most are now gone forever, a few still remain in my deadstock. Feel free to contact me if you are interested in purchasing or visit Likely General in Toronto, the exclusive retailer of Be Proud deadstock badges.
